ABOUT THE MD

After completing his clinical medicine course in Uganda, Mr. Katumwa Ali boarded the next bus headed for South Sudan in the late 2009. Like any other ambitious youth, he had a vision of seeing himself put into practice, the knowledge he had attained in the medical school, to improve health service delivery in the young nation.
Mr. Ali found himself in Torit, South Sudan, employed at a one Torit Family Clinic, as a clinician for the first few years of his practice. With an entrepreneurial mindset, it didn’t take him so long before identifying an opportunity to partner with a former workmate and start up a Joint Clinic; Modern Medical Clinic, in Inkas, EES. However, the economic situation that followed the 2013 post conflict inflation in South Sudan did not leave the duo’s partnership intact and consequently, Mr. Ali found his way out. The available option left for him then was setting up a sole venture, after a friend, Dr. Paul Gwaro and Ms. Grace Hazuka Joseph scouted a then struggling Inter Church committee (ICC)clinic which, after acquiring, he transformed into Iman Medical Clinic, IMC.
Since its inception, Mr. Ali has committed all his energy to making Iman Medical Clinic the most reliable and sustainable health set up in the Eastern Equatorial Region of South Sudan, by bringing on board the most courteous and committed professionals to his team, investing in the state of the art equipment to compliment the clinic’s laboratory, as well as investing in research into the most affordable stocks of drugs to cater for every patient’s needs. An electronic patient management system has also been put in place to keep, as well as closely monitor all our patient’s data. Our 24-hour ICT system also automatically manages drug stocks to ensure that the right stocks of the same are held and dispensed at any particular period of time.

CO-FOUNDER AND ADMINISTRATOR

A nutritionist and Pharmacy Assistant by profession, Ms. Grace Hazuka Joseph is incalculably esteemed for her selfless contribution both in the founding, and in the management of IMC, especially during the crisis between 2017 and 2019. Her close relationship with the Catholic parish of Torit opened the window of opportunity through which the availability for sale, of the Inter Church Committee Clinic was identified. It’s the later that was acquired and elevated into a much presentable facility, the Iman Medical Clinic. When Mr. Ali travelled back to Kampala for close to two years in 2017, Ms. Grace was left solely in charge of management of the facility, and her heartily commitment during that challenging moment will always be valued. Though still performs a management role in the clinic on a part time basis, she recently decided to as well give back to the community through offering her services as a Nutritional Officer, with a Non-government in South Sudan, Welthungerhilfe.
